Description:

Ever wanted to make your own custom t-shirt, tote bag, sticker, poster, or greeting card? The Asylum finally has a space and classes for you! In this one day intensive introduction to screen printing, you'll learn all the basics and by the end of the day create a screen using your artwork and print a one-color design on your choice of t-shirts or paper.

Class Goals:

Students will learn all they need to start screen printing at home or in the Asylum's print studio. After an informational overview, students will dive right in to hands-on work so that by the end of the workshop they leave with their own printed products as well as the skills to print on their own.

Prerequisites:

None.

Materials:

Students should bring their own materials to print on. The instructor will provide materials for test prints, but students should bring shirts or paper for final printed products. Screens and ink provided for class use by instructor, but students have the option of bringing their own.

Instructor Biography:

Erik Heumiller

Erik Heumiller is a video editor and cartoonist who tinkers in every work area of the Asylum. Erik likes to collect hobbies and skills and rarely looks at anything without mentally deconstructing it to see how he can make it. His print experience comes from his years working in a T-shirt shop and he is currently working on comicbooks, art prints and building knickknacks for his print and design company.

Event Time:

This one-day session will run Saturday, July 21st, from 11AM to 5PM.
